Positive Rewards And Motivation by Sam Crowley

Are you ready to change but your motivation is holding you back? If so you are likely to be feeling frustrated and unhappy with life. The good news is that you can get your motivation back and one of the best ways to do it is to reward yourself.
How Rewarding Yourself Actually Works
One of the best ways to gain motivation is if there is something in the changes that you want to make which will benefit you.
Think of something that you really want to achieve but which you have not yet had the motivation to do so. Perhaps the benefit of that achievement is strong but just not strong enough? Think again to that achievement and then think about something else which you would really love to have. It could be new clothes, a nice holiday away or even a nice trip out to the cinema. Once you know what it is that you want, you can then start to bargain with yourself.
For example, if you want to lose weight but you have not found the motivation, why not set yourself a goal so that once you have lost a certain amount of weight, you reward yourself with something? That usually works really well and some dieters even find that by eating well all week, they can afford to have one day where they reward their good effort by eating whatever they want. It helps keep their motivation strong and it does not undo all of their hard work as they go back to eating healthily for the other six days a week.
By offering yourself a reward it will keep you interested and focused in the achievement that you have set yourself. If you want to change your job then once you have applied for one and received an interview, you can reward yourself with a shopping trip perhaps or a nice meal out? That will remind you that what you did was good and no matter whether you get the job or not, you have shown that you are willing to make the changes in your life.
Rewards are often seen as something which are given to children, but as we grow our need to be rewarded does not change. Of course it is possible to motivate yourself without rewards, but with them it makes things a lot easier and why shouldn't you reward yourself? So much time is spent on beating ourselves up for the things that we do wrong, yet we never reward ourselves for the things that we do right.
Overall our motivation stems from wanting to do something due to the result which will benefit us in some way. This means that rewards are often a good way to keep ourselves focused and on target to meet our lifelong goals. Without reward we do not see the point in putting all of our effort into something. So think of what you would like to achieve and think of something that you want. That way you will find the motivation that you have been craving for so long and you will achieve whatever it is that you want to achieve.
